Busy Summer of Machinery Sales

It has been a very busy summer for the York Machinery sales, with both record entries and sales as well as an interesting variation of special dispersals.

We all miss the old traditional live auctions for the atmosphere and reality as well as a social day out, and hearty Yorkshire breakfast or roast beef dinner at the café.

Sadly the reality of the modern age is dictating differently and forcing the changes.  The online sales have now seen a growth of 100% compared to pre-Covid as well as being 34% up on last year.  That in itself confirms vendors are achieving an overall better result from the online system, primarily because it is reaching a much bigger audience nationally and internationally with greater opportunities to bid and purchase.

The first special sale on behalf of Stephen Clayton contained his modern potato equipment including Grimme Varitron 470 harvester at £130,000, Tong Storemaker at £74,400 and a John Deere 8370 RT tractor at £83,600, going to Germany.  This was followed by Karl Kunz’s sale of beet contracting equipment with a CTM 552 beet cleaner at £38,000 and a Rolland Rollmax 7130 spreader, £15,600.

The July sale included two dispersals, the first on behalf of Exors of David Robinson deceased with his well maintained grassland and vintage machinery including NH TA100A tractor at £19,800, Welgar RP 435 baler at £6,400, Fordson Major £4,800 and Fordson Dexta £5,200.  In contast Performance Agility from Teesside included a wide range of dog agility equipment, being ex-hire and trade-in, which included KC spec dog walk at £1,000 and A-frame at £900, with purchasers stretching from Norfolk, Aylesbury to Aberdeen.

Highlights elsewhere in the summer sales have been Fendt 828 Pro tractor, £64,000, John Deere 7270R tractor at £56,600, NH CR980 combine £36,800, Stewart GX20 grain trailer £21,600 and a Vaderstad RD300S drill £24,600.
